So here in the exhibition Shifted Realities : I am presenting two pieces of work and one installation that is encompassing wall paintings, different objects, found objects actually, like reclaimed objects, as well as prints and lights and as well as a film a twenty minute long film called Mauve, Jim and John. And the project as a whole is, as a title as well, it’s called You & I. Which is borrowed from unreleased song from Jeff Buckley. So it’s very simple title, that kind of has a lot of dimension and depth to it because is for me in both works, where they relate is because they are kind of like vaguely addressing themes of interconnectedness and inter relationships or interdependency. And so the idea behind that is to kind of investigate what is this relation between You and I and who is you and who is I and the possibility of a we as well.
So they will be useful as part of this installation a performance and the idea of that for me, as well as the installation, often in my work those spaces are meeting points between people, between the audience and my work, between me and my work. But also between me and other artists, other makers. Which is already the case in the film which is a collaboration with a dancer called Robertem Bridgerem and here I wanted to kind of activate this space, in a more kind of like sensible sensitive way and using music and as always kind of like a way to kind of reference to also the philharmonie, that is also hosted here and the resonance of the space. I was very interested in this, so it’s kind of like the music will probably set in motion, those like static objects that are here.
So Shifted Realities is actually a pretty good title, in a sense that I am inside my work, always trying to look at other of understanding the world other ways of understanding the world, also producing knowledge. And for exemple something that I’m highly interested in is kind of our relationship to the cosmos, to plants to ghosts, and to invisible beings or non-human beings and I think that’s like a common theme, to some of the artists that are also presented in this exhibition. So for me that was kind of like a natural kind of fit.
