I grew up on the Adret (the sunniest side of the valley), looking out over the Ubac (the shady one). As a child, the mountains seemed to me like a setting, a painted backdrop. And then, as the ceramic rises to the temperature of lava, it seemed the right thing to do, to build a landscape of artificial stones.
