The Rêves lucides series was born out of research into the reappropriation of major contemporary myths through exotic, even deviant practices. While Gilles Deleuze’s assertion that schizophrenics always have grandiose delusions (about the world and history) initially guided this research, it ultimately focused on websites about ‘lucid dreaming’. These sites are frequented by often young practitioners who share their experiences of conscious dreaming and their attempts to control their dreams. These images, which blend personal fiction, adolescent impulses and great myths, were constructed on the basis of these accounts.
