The work À Voix basse by the artist Jean Denant from Sète is like a large screen with two reflective faces, 3 metres high and 7 metres long. Placed in the middle of the nature, it is pierced by a form that appears abstract, even though it is the cadastral drawing of the site of Mates Basses: cartography is a recurring element in Jean Denant’s work, such as the world map or the Mediterranean. This work, with its differently oriented sides and its gap, has something of a kaleidoscope that multiplies and thereby celebrates this landscape by offering both the front and the back, the ochre of the earth, the plant and the sky, the shadow and the light.
